안데르센의 동화를 기반으로 한 이야기. 돼지들을 키우는 소년 목동이 마법 냄비를 통해 소동을 일으키고, 이를 지켜보던 공주와 왕이 동참하면서 한바탕 축제가 벌어진다. 돼지 목동과 공주의 키스, 마법의 축제는 동화적 세계의 즐거움을 보여주는 동시에 안데르센 특유의 계급을 뛰어넘는 세계관을 깔고 있다. 숨은 의미를 다 알지 못해도 경쾌한 돼지들의 축제에 동참한다면!

It’s a story based on Andersen’s fairy tale. A young swineherd makes some trouble using a magic pot and the princess and the king who watch him participate in the ruckus, and then a noisy party starts. A kiss of the swineherd and the princess and the magical party present an enjoyable moment of the fairy tale world, but more than that, the story has the underlying world view of Andersen that overcomes the class differences. It is okay you don’t know any of the hidden meaning, if you can join the fun pig party!

물고기 소년 / Fisher Boy

집으로 온 이수는 할아버지를 위한 물을 찾아 2리터짜리 플라스틱 물병을 들고 집을 나선다. 이웃집 할머니, 편의점, 동네 친구들과의 공놀이, 길고양이 등. 세상에는 소년을 유혹하는 것이 너무나 많다. 이수는 무사히 물을 가지고 갈 수 있을까. 물을 찾아가는 아이의 여정이 환하게 펼쳐진다.

Isu came back home and went out again for water for his grandfather, carrying a 2L plastic water bottle. There are so many that catch the boy’s eyes. An old lady from neighborhood, a convenience store, boys playing with a ball, a stray cat and so on. Can Isu bring water home? This boy’s journey to find water brightly unfolds.

상상 노트 / Drawn out

13살의 소녀에게는 신비한 펜과 스케치북이 있다. 이 펜은 소녀의 상상을 현실로 만들어 준다. 수업 시간이 견디기 어려웠던 소녀는 마음껏 그림을 그리기 시작하고, 온갖 괴물이 튀어나와 교실을 혼란에 빠뜨린다. 이로 인해 혼이 나기도 하지만 소녀는 현실을 넘어서는 상상의 위력을 발견한다.

This 13-year-old girl has a magic pen and a magic sketchbook. This pen makes her imagination into reality. When she freely draws during a boring class, monsters come out and mess the classroom. Due to the mess, she gets scolded, but she finds out the power of the imagination that transcends the reality.

스마트폰 좀비 / Bleh

네덜란드의 한 소년은 자신의 생일 케이크를 사기 위해 엄마와 외출을 한다. 그런데 사람들이 이상해 보인다. 거리에서, 가게에서, 버스 안에서. 모두가 스마트폰에 중독되어 좀비로 변해간다. 집으로 돌아온 소년은 생일선물로 스마트폰을 선물받 게 된다. 그리고, 끔찍하지만 귀엽게 묘사된 세계의 현실이 펼쳐진다.

A Dutch boy goes out to buy a birthday cake with his mom. But, people look strange. On the street, in a store, in a bus and so on, everyone turns into a zombie, being addicted to smartphones! The boy comes back home and gets a smartphone as a birthday gift. AND! Reality of the world described in a cruel but cute way unfolds.

침대 밑의 괴물 / Monsters

세 명의 소녀들이 자신이 경험한 괴물의 이야기를 들려준다. 그것은 세 소녀의 가족들이 서로 다른 이유로 네덜란드로 오게 된 이유이기도 하다. 소녀들은 현실의 설명이 아니라 괴물을 빌어, 괴물을 통해, 괴물과 함께 자신의 경험을 들려준다. 그것은 무시무시하지만, 즐거운 기억이기도 하고, 망명의 경험이기도 하며 삶의 단면이 되기도 한다.

Three girls tell their own experiences about monsters. These are also the reasons that the three girls’ families had to flee to the Netherlands. The girls tell their stories not by explaining what really happened to them, but by sharing their experiences by the monsters, through the monsters or with the monsters. They are really scary but happy memories, and also experiences of exile and a chapter of life, too.

하늘에서 무슨 일이? / What’s Up with the Sky?

이 작품은 한 마을의 변천사와 역사에 관한 놀라운 애니메이션이기도 한 동시에 그로 인해 변해버리는 자연의 파괴를 다루는 짧지만 강렬한 걸작이다. 움직임을 통해 모든 걸 이해시키려는 애니의 본질을 대변하려는 듯 페이지를 넘기듯 변화하는 마을의 인상과 그에 따른 도시의 불행을 지켜보는 것은 단박에 모든 걸 이해 시켜준다. 변화보다 더 중요한 것은 보존이라고!

it is a surprising animation about the history of a village and the historic events, and at the same time, it is a short but excellent masterpiece that deals with how it has changed and destroyed nature. Just like showing the nature of animation that explains everything through movements, it depicts the impression of the changing village with the effects of turning pages, and watches the misery of the city.
