매년 서울과 부산의 만추를 장식하는 스웨덴 영화제가 올해 더욱 풍요로운 프로그램을 가지고 어김없이 관객들을 찾아온다. 올해로 3회를 맞는 스웨덴 영화제는 어느 해보다도 ‘영화’라는 예술장르에 더욱 포커스를 맞춘 매력적인 컬렉션으로 관객의 기대를 한층 높이고 있다.  

스웨덴 영화는 우리 나라뿐 아니라 국제 무대에서도 끊임없이 주목을 받아 왔다. 지난 9월엔 로이 안데르손 감독의 초현실주의 코미디영화 <비둘기, 가지에 앉아 존재를 성찰하다>가 베니스국제영화제에서 황금사자상을 수상하여 스웨덴 영화의 저력을 다시 한번 입증하기도 했다.

올해 스웨덴 영화제에 선보이게 될 10편의 라인업은 개막작 <노바디 오운즈 미>를 비롯, <아발론>, <비하인드 블루 스카이즈>, <콜 걸> 등 사회성 짙은 드라마, 거장 얀 트로엘 감독의 전기영화 <마지막 문장>, 가족 어드벤처 <아이스 드래곤>, 두 편의 다큐멘터리 <더 파이러트 베이 : 키보드를 떠나서>, <바나나 소송사건 그 이후>, 그리고 칸국제영화제 단편부문 대상에 노미네이트된 기상천외한 음악영화 <여섯 명의 드러머와 아파트>와 그 장편 버전이라고 할 수 있는 <사운드 오브 노이즈> 등, 어느 한 편도 놓칠 수 없는 화제작의 향연이라 할 수 있다.

세계에서 가장 살기 좋은 선진문화와 유토피아적 이미지 이면에 자리한 인간과 사회의 심층을 다채롭게 조망하는 스웨덴 영화의 힘을 생생하게 실감할 수 있는 영화축제의 장이 될 2014년 스웨덴 영화제는 11월 5일부터 서울 아트하우스 모모, 11월 7일부터 부산 영화의 전당에서 각 1주일씩 펼쳐질 예정이다. 개막작 <노바디 오운즈 미>의 감독 쉘-오케 안데르손을 비롯한 스웨덴 영화계 인사들의 방한도 예정되어 있으며, 관객과의 대화 등 풍부한 기획으로 영화감상의 즐거움은 더욱 커질 것으로 기대된다. 모든 상영은 무료로 진행된다.

 Swedish Film Festival  Friday 7 – Thursday 13 November

One of the must-see cultural events in late autumn, Swedish Film Festival is ready to welcome the audience in Seoul and Busan with a strengthened 2014 program. For this third edition of the festival, the program selection is particularly focusing on the ‘cinema’ itself in different genres.

From artistic masterpieces to eccentric experiments, Swedish cinema has always played a special role in the history of world cinema. This year, Swedish director Roy Andersson's hilarious and heartbreaking absurdist comedy A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence won the prestigious Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival and proved the excellence of Swedish cinema.

Swedish Film Festival in Seoul and Busan is the ideal opportunity to meet the very best selection of latest trends of this fascinating cinema. Starting from the opening film Nobody Owns Me, this year’s line-up including social drama (Avalon, Behind Blue Skies, Call Girl), biography (The Last Sentence), family adventure (The Ice Dragon), documentary (TPB AFK, Big Boys Gone Bananas!*), sensational short film (Music For One Apartment and Six Drummers) and its feature version (Sound of Noise) is all not to be missed.

Behind the image of most advanced welfare country and utopian society, the Swedish cinema strives constantly to explore the deep inside of human and society. Swedish Film Festival 2014 will be held from November 5 in Seoul and November 7 in Busan during one week respectively. Some screenings will be followed by special events such as Guest Appearance, including Kjell-Åke Andersson, the director of the opening film Nobody Owns Me. All screenings are for free.
