  동독 곳곳엔 사회주의 시대의 주거 건축물인 플라텐바우(조립식 콘크리트 구조물)가 남겨져 있다. 독일 통일 후에 이뤄진 인구 유출, 도시 침체로 인해 이곳엔 대개 노년의 원주민들이 산다. 이 중 한 플라텐바우엔 오랜 시간을 함께한 입주민들과 건물 관리인 ‘휴고’가 있다. 건물 살림을 살뜰히 챙기는 그는 건물 미니어처까지 만들어 이웃들을 돌본다. 다만 외부 자본과 세력은 점차 플라텐바우를 침범하며 주민들의 삶을 죄어온다. 그러던 어느 날, 한 주민이 위험에 처하자 사람들은 하나 되어 그를 돕는다. 도움의 방식은 노래인데, 제목처럼 영화엔 휴고와 인물들의 노래가 자주 흐른다. 감미로운 선율로 평화로움을 선사하던 그들의 노랫소리가 연대에의 굳센 힘을 표하게 될 때 찾아오는 울림이 범상치 않다. 빅토르 위고의 <노트르드 담 파리>에서 영감을 받은 이야기다.

  Scattered throughout the GDR are the Plattenbau, socialist-era residential structures. Due to the outflow of population and urban stagnation after the reunification of Germany, the area is usually inhabited by elderly natives. In one of the Plattenbau houses, there are long-time residents and Hugo, the building manager. He takes care of the building and even makes miniatures of the building to take care of his neighbors. However, outside capital and forces are gradually invading Platenbau and squeezing the lives of its residents. One day, when a villager is in danger, the people unite to help him. The way to help is through singing, and as the title suggests, the film often features Hugo and the characters' songs. The resonance that comes when their melodious melody and peacefulness come to express the strength of solidarity is outstanding. The story is inspired by by Victor Hugo.

  시놉시스 Synopsis

  
  

  기숙사엔 주간, 야간, 심야 3교대로 베트남 여성 근로자들이 근무한다. 그들 중 일부는 파업을 준비하고 있다: 간판을 만들고, 소품을 만들고, 액션 연극을 연습한다. 그러나 관리인은 이들에게 포기하라 설득하며 송환으로 위협한다. 오늘 밤, 막 이사 온 신입이 차가운 눈으로 그 갈등을 목격한다.

  
  

   

  
  

  Vietnamese female workers are divided into three shifts in this dormitory, day, night, and late-night shift. Some of them are preparing a strike: making sign boards, props, and practicing the action play. However the dorm manager persuades them to give up, and threatens them with repatriation.   어둡고 음습한 공간에서 밝고 광활한 공간으로 이행하는 영화. 오프닝 시퀀스. 한 여자가 캐리어를 끌며 좁은 통로를 비집고 들어온다. 그녀가 들어선 곳은 짐 더미로 가득 찬 기숙사 안이다. 발 디딜 틈 없이 공간을 꽉꽉 메운 짐 때문에 기숙사 안은 너무나도 좁아 보인다. 영화의 중반부. 기숙사 구석구석 자리 잡은 사람들은 한 데 모이고, 그들은 어떤 일을 공모하기 시작한다. 그들 간 주고받는 말을 통해 해당 기숙사는 어느 공장의 외국인 노동자들이 머무는 숙소임을 짐작할 수 있다. 노동자들은 과도한 업무 강도, 임금 체불 등에 분노하며 파업을 추진하려한다. 극의 후반부. 좁은 공간 내부에서 자라난 작은 불씨들은 모이고 엉켜 해당 공간을 파괴하는 데까지 이른다. 영화의 주 무대였던 기숙사는 끝내 해체된다. 어둠이 지배했던 공간에 빛이 들어오기 시작한다. 어쩌면 은 햇빛이 드리우는 거대한 공간 위에서 다시 출발하는 영화인지도 모른다.

  A film that transitions from a dark and insidious space to a bright and expansive space. Opening sequence. A woman squeezes through a narrow passage with a suitcase. She enters a dormitory full of luggage. The luggage crammed into the space without a chance to step on it makes the dormitory seem too cramped. The middle part of the film. People from all corners of the dormitory gather together, and they begin to conspire to do something. From the words exchanged between them, it can be inferred that the dormitory is the accommodation of foreign workers of a factory. Workers are angry at excessive work intensity, non-payment of wages, etc., and are trying to push for a strike. The second half of the play. Small embers that grow inside a small space gather and become entangled, leading to the destruction of the space. The dormitory, which was the main setting of the film, is eventually dismantled. Light begins to enter the space where darkness once reigned. Maybe is a film that starts over on a huge space with sunlight.
