  산투스 시내 중심에서 벗어나면 거리 곳곳에 빈민촌이 늘어서있다. 촘촘한 빈 집을 연상시키는 낡은 아파트, 벽이 허물어져가는 주택가 건물, 불온전한 주거지 환경과 거리 위로 내쳐진 사람들까지. 또한 반듯한 산투스 시내 모습과 무질서한 산투스 판자촌 풍경은 계속해서 교차된다. 영화는 도시 이면에 자리한 슬럼가 전경을 가감 없이 정직하게 담아낸다. 극중 등장하는 거주자들의 인터뷰는 산투스 교외의 위태로운 실황을 한 번 더 확인케 함과 동시에 산투스 지역이 어떻게 해야 좋은 방향으로 나아갈 수 있을지 고심하도록 만든다. 영화는 중심에서 멀어져가는 주변 지역을 관찰하고, 그곳 사람들의 얘기를 들으면서 모두에게 이상적인 공간은 어떤 곳일지 상상토록 하는 영화다.

  Outside the downtown of Santos, the streets are lined with slums. Dilapidated apartments reminiscent of densely packed empty houses, residential buildings with crumbling walls, uneven living conditions and people thrown out onto the streets. In addition, the smooth city of Santos and the chaotic landscape of Santos shantytowns continue to intersect. The film honestly captures the view of the slums behind the city. The interviews with the residents in the film confirm once more the precarious situation in the suburbs of Santos, and at the same time make the audience think about how the Santos area can move forward in a good direction. The film is about observing the surrounding areas as it moves away from the center, listening to the people there, and imagining what the ideal space for everyone would be.

  한 남자가 카메라를 직시한 채 알 수 없는 말을 늘어놓는다. “이게 너를 위한 최선이야. 미안해”라며 열변을 토하는데 이야기의 맥락은 알 길이 없다. 감정은 극에 달해 눈물이 흘러나오고 말투는 사뭇 비장하다. 급기야 권총을 입안에 들이댄다. 그리고 한 발의 총성이 울리자 영화는 돌변한다. 영화 바깥의 인물들이 개입하는 것이다. 그렇게 은 영화에 관한 영화, 속칭 메타영화의 성질을 띠며 이어진다. 한 발의 총알, 한 번의 촬영이란 뉘앙스가 묘하게 얽혀 가면서 제목의 의미를 흥미롭게 중첩하는 셈이다. 단편영화의 시간적인 한계를 외려 동력 삼아서 군더더기 없이 나아가는 8분여의 완급조절이 인상적이다. 올해 글라스고단편영화제, 로코런던코미디필름페스티벌에서 상영됐다.

  A man says something unintelligible while facing the camera, "This is the best for you. I'm sorry," but there is no way to know the context of the story. Emotions are at a fever pitch, tears are flowing, and the tone is quite grim. Finally, he puts a pistol to his mouth. And when a single shot rings out, the film turns around. Characters outside the film intervene. Thus, continues in the nature of a film about a film, the so-called meta-film. One bullet and one shot is a strange intertwining of nuances, intriguingly overlapping the meaning of the title. Taking advantage of the short film's time limitations, controlling the pace of the 8-minute film is impressive. It was screened at this year's Glasgow Short Film Festival and Rocco London Comedy Film Festival.

  갓파는 일본 구전 설화에 등장하는 요괴다. 영화는 첫 번째 챕터에서 갓파의 생김새, 서식지 등의 특징을 설명하며 극의 포문을 연다. 연이은 세 개의 챕터는 각 지역마다 다르게 구전되는 갓파 이야기를 나열하고 있다. 그중 처음 일화는 한 마을의 도랑과 얽힌 설화다. 소녀는 할머니로부터 도랑 위를 뛰어다니는 갓파에 관한 얘기를 듣고 한밤중에 물이 첨벙이는 소리를 듣게 된다. 다음 일화는 한밤중에 노부부의 집을 방문한 갓파의 이야기다. 노부부는 주먹밥을 대접하고, 갓파는 행복한 표정을 짓더니 그 자리에서 바로 사라져버린다. 마지막 전설은 갓파가 강가에서 노는 어린 아이를 강 속으로 데리고 간다는 무시무시한 일화다. 한 아이의 엄마는 기지를 발휘하여 화과자로 유인하는 데 성공한다. 영화는 애니메이션과 실사를 오가며 다소간 유쾌하고 신비로운 설화를 전하는 데 힘쓰고 있다.

  Kappa is a yokai that appears in Japanese oral folktales. The film begins by explaining the kappa's appearance, habitat, and other characteristics in the first chapter. The three consecutive chapters list kappa stories that are passed down orally differently in each region. The first anecdote is a tale about a ditch in a village. A girl hears from her grandmother about kappas running over a ditch and hears the splashing of water in the middle of the night. The next anecdote is about a kappa who visits an elderly couple's house in the middle of the night. The elderly couple serves rice balls, and the kappa puts on a happy face and disappears right then and there. The last legend is a terrifying anecdote about a kappa taking a young child into the river who is playing by it. The mother of one child uses her wits and succeeds in luring the kappa with wagashi. The film alternates between animation and live-action, striving to tell delightful and mysterious tales.

  마틴의 어제와 오늘, 내일의 일과에서 발견할 수 있는 차이란 그가 갈아입는 옷과 매일 새롭게 업데이트 되는 라디오 뉴스의 내용 정도일테다. 라디오의 소리가 멎자, 집 안은 마치 진공 상태에 빠진 듯 하다. 고요한 집 안에 깔리는 백색소음, 자신이 발생시키는 소음에 낯섦과 불안을 느끼는 마틴. 그 후로 그는 눈에 띄게 기운을 잃어간다. 자신의 일상을 찾기 위해 마틴은 스스로 신호를 보내기 시작한다. 수신하는 자와 송신하는 자 사이의 주파수를 맞추는 것이 전파를 공유하기 위한 기본적인 전제임을 생각할 때, 영화는 그 마음의 주파수에 귀를 기울이고 미세한 진폭을 알아차리려는 행위가 주는, 마법이라고 믿고 싶어지는 힘으로 회복하는 한 사람의 이야기다.

  The difference between Martin's yesterday's day, today's and tomorrow's routines is the change of clothes he wears and the daily updates on the radio news. When the radio dies down, the house seems to be in a vacuum. Martin feels unfamiliar and anxious about the white noise in the quiet of the house and the noise he generates. Since then, he has noticeably lost his energy. In order to find his daily routine, Martin begins to send signals to himself. Considering that tuning the frequency between the receiver and the sender is a basic premise for sharing radio waves, the film is the story of a man who recovers with the power he wants to believe is magic given by the act of listening to the frequency of his mind and noticing the minute amplitude.

  뉴질랜드의 지역 설화를 토대로 한 극영화다. 한 여성이 대학교 강의실에서 기묘한 모양의 토템 목걸이와 고서를 얻게 된다. 토템에 손을 대자 본 적 없고, 간 적 없지만 기시감이 느껴지는 일련의 기억이 머릿속에 재생된다. 토템의 정체를 알고 싶던 그녀는 물건의 주인을 쫓고, 전문가인 교수에게 찾아가 조언을 구한다. 끝내 본인의 기억과 삶이 지역의 역사와 깊게 얽혀있음을 깨닫는다. 여기서 영화가 강조하는 지점은 그녀가 뉴질랜드 원주민인 마오리족의 혼혈이란 설정이다. 토테미즘, 애니미즘, 샤머니즘 등이 결합한 마오리족의 원시 종교가 일종의 안내자로서 그녀의 여정을 인도한다. 이 여정은 자연과 인간이 오랜 시간 공존하며 쌓아냈던 유대, 그리고 잃어버렸던 어머니와의 기억을 탐험하는 과정이다.

  It is a film drama based on a local folktale in New Zealand. A woman gets a strangely shaped totem necklace and an old tome in a university lecture hall. When she touches the totem, a series of memories that she has never seen or gone to, but that she feels familiar with, replay in her mind. Wanting to know the truth of the totem, she chases after its owner and visits the professor, who is an expert, for advice. In the end, she realizes that her memories and life are deeply intertwined with the history of the area. The film's emphasis here is placed on the fact that she is of mixed Maori descent, the indigenous people of New Zealand. The primitive religion of the Maori, a combination of totemism, animism, and shamanism, leads her journey as a kind of guide. This journey is the process of exploring the bonds that nature and humans have forged over the years, as well as the memories she has lost with her mother.
