  시간은 흐르고, 대부분의 것들은 변하거나 사라지기 마련이다. 그토록 당연한 세상의 순리 앞에서 결코 빛바래지 않고 오히려 선명해져가는 것 또한 존재한다. 그것은 누군가의 고통에 기반한 기억이다. 한 개인에게 아픔을 준 어떤 기억은 끝끝내 확장되어 한 사회의 깊은 상처로 자리 잡는다. 영화는 최승우 씨의 현재 모습을 담담히 보여주며 그의 과거 기억들 또한 사려 깊게 조명한다. 1980년대 초반, 거리정화 사업을 핑계 삼아 부산의 형제복지원은 부랑인은 물론 행인, 어린이까지 무차별적으로 잡아들였다. 어린 최승우 씨는 그곳으로 끌려간 사람들 중 한 명이었다. 그에게 그때의 시간은 씻을 수 없는 트라우마가 되었고, 세월이 한참 흐른 후 현재에 이르러서까지 고통의 기억 속에서 벗어나지 못한다. <승우>는 우리가 절대 잊어선 안 되는 개인의 아픈 기억을 보존하고, 세상에 알리려 힘쓰는 뜻 깊은 다큐멘터리 영화다.

The film boldly shows Choi Seung-woo's current state and also reflectively sheds light on his past memories. In the early 1980s, using the street clean-up project as an excuse, the Brothers Home in Busan indiscriminately arrested not only vagrants, but also passers-by and children. Young Choi Seung-woo was one of those taken there. For him, that time became an indelible trauma, and he cannot escape the memory of the pain until the present day. is a meaningful documentary film that strives to preserve the painful memories of individuals that we should never forget and to make them known to the world.

  마음을 담는 일, 그 마음이 보이는 일에 필요한 건 뭘까? 엄마의 평범한 하루를 따르는 딸의 카메라, 어색한 말투로 읽어내리는 그의 편지, 어리광 가득한 손녀의 목소리. 단출한 구성 안에 스민 뭉클한 정감이 이 영화를 특별하게 한다. 엄마와 딸과 손녀 3대의 얼굴이 보이지 않는데도 우리는 그 표정을 다 알 것만 같다. 빈 땅을 놀리지 않고 푸성귀를 키우며 이제 당신을 위해 한글을 공부하는 엄마, 그의 정원에서 자란 딸은 어느덧 엄마의 자리에서 자기 딸을 보며 지난날 부모님의 마음을 생각한다. 엄마가 돌봐준 손녀도 다 커서 할머니에게 용돈을 보내온다. 엄마의 정원은 모든 계절이 풍요하다.

  What does it take to put your heart into it, to show your heart? A daughter's camera, following her mother's normal day, his letter being read awkwardly, and her granddaughter's cute voice. The touchy feelings permeated in the simple composition make this film special. Even though we can't see the faces of the three generations of mother, daughter, and granddaughter, we seem to know all their facial expressions. A mother who doesn't idle the empty land and grows vegetables, and now learns Hangeul for herself, and the daughter who grew up in his garden, became a mother of a daughter herself, and she thinks about her parents' feelings in the past while looking at her daughter. The granddaughter that mother took care of is also grown up and sends pocket money to her grandmother. Mom's garden is rich in all seasons.

  강을 건너기 위해서는 굳은 결심이 필요하다. 젊은 사진작가 선재도 강을 건너려 한다. 다만 여기서 ‘강’이란 실제 강물이기도 하거니와 그녀의 마음을 틀어막고 있는 지지부진함이기도 하다. 요즘 선재는 한동안 진척이 없는 사진작가 일에 의구심을 지니고 있다. 자신을 응원하지 않는 것 같은 어머니의 태도도 영 석연치 않다. 그러던 선재에게 뜻밖의 만남이 찾아온다. 대타로 참여한 사진 출사 모임에서 노년의 사진 초보 가은을 만난 것이다. 가은과 나눈 솔직한 대화, 산책의 시간, 일상의 복기 끝에 선재는 마음의 불안을 떨쳐 내고 강을 건너려 한다. 정돈되고 꼿꼿한 카메라는 그 결단의 순간까지 다가가는 선재의 한 걸음 한 걸음, 그리고 이 움직임을 추동하는 주변 자연의 생동을 놓치지 않는다. 2022 부산 인터시티 레지던지 영화제작사업 선정작, 제24회 부산독립영화제 심사위원특별상 수상작.

  It takes determination to cross the river. A young photographer, Sun Jae, is also about to cross the river. However, the "river" here is not only the actual river, but also the stalling power that is holding her back. These days, Sun Jae has doubts about her job as a photographer, which hasn't shown any progress in a while. She also doesn’t like the attitude of her mother, who does not seem to support her. Then, an unexpected encounter comes to Sun Jae. At a photo workshop that she participated in as a substitute, she met Ga-eun, a novice photographer in her old age. After a honest conversation with Ga-eun, a time of strolls, and a revival of everyday life, Sun Jae tries to shake off her anxiety and cross the river. The orderly and upright camera does not miss each step of Sun Jae as it approaches the moment of decision, and the liveliness of the surrounding nature that encourages this movement. Selected for the 2022 Busan Intercity Residency Film Production Project, winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 24th Busan Independent Film Festival.

  사랑에 대한 영화, 영화에 대한 사랑. 세상을 향해 열린 창이 영화라는 바쟁의 말을 기억한다. 영화와 영화보기엔 관음의 원리가 적용되고, 대상에 대한 사랑의 근원에는 호기심이 있다. 사랑하는 이를 훔쳐보는 사람, 건넛집을 관찰하다가 범죄를 의심하는 사람, 그 상황을 지켜보는 영화, 스크린 앞 객석에 있는 우리는 모두 공모자다. 사랑 또는 영화라고 부를 수 있는 사건에 휘말리는 사람들이 별안간 대상과 눈이 마주치며 깜짝 놀라는 순간, 다시 말해 이 환영이 깨지는 순간은 사랑이나 사건이 종결되고 우리가 객석에서 일어나 현실로 돌아오는 시간이다. 하지만 우리는 또다른 창 앞에서 이 마음을 반복하게 될 것이다.

  A movie about love, love about a movie. I remember Bazin saying that cinema is a window that opens up to the world. The principle of voyeurism applies to movies and the act of watching movies, and, curiosity is at the root of love for an object. Those who spy on their loved ones, those who suspect crimes while observing a house right across the street, those who watch the situation, and those of us in the audience in front of the screen are all co-conspirators. The moment when people who are caught up in what can be called love or cinema are startled by eye contact with the subject, the moment when this illusion is broken, is the time when the love or event is concluded and we rise from the audience seats and return to reality. But we're going to repeat this feeling in front of another window.
