세 명의 환경 운동가는 필리핀의 ‘마지막 생태 낙원’으로 유명해진 열대 섬, 팔라완을 지키려다 배신과 살해 협박에 직면하게 된다. 하얗고 고운 백사장과 울창한 숲으로 인해 팔라완은 새로운 인기 관광지가 되었지만, 이곳의 훌륭한 천연자원을 보호하려는 이들에게는 오히려 위험한 전쟁터가 되어 버렸다. 이곳을 지키려는 환경 운동가의 리더인 보비와 타타, 니에베스는 정치인과 사업가가 숲을 파괴하는 것을 막기 위해 목숨을 걸고 다윗과 골리앗의 싸움을 벌이고 있다. 대기업과 정부의 수탈로부터 천연자원을 보호하려는 사람들이 살해당하는 팔라완의 상황은 땅을 지키려는 자들의 고행을 상징적으로 보여준다. 지구에 여섯 번째 대멸종이 다가오고 있고 기후 위기는 더욱 심각해지고 있지만 <델리카도: 팔라완 숲 잔혹사>는 사람들에게 용기와 회복의 이야기를 들려주며 행동으로 옮길 것을 촉구하고 있다.

Three environmental crusaders confront betrayal and murder as they battle to save an island paradise famed as the Philippines ‘last ecological frontier’. Palawan appears to be an idyllic tropical island. Its powder-white beaches and lush forests have made it one of Asia’s hottest new tourist destinations. But for a tiny network of environmental crusaders and vigilantes trying to protect its spectacular natural resources, it is more akin to a battlefield. DELIKADO follows Bobby, Tata and Nieves, three magnetic leaders of this network, as they risk their lives in David versus Goliath-style struggles trying to stop politicians and businessmen from destroying the Philippines’ “last ecological frontier”.
